How to keep a running balance of the projected balance versus the bank balance involves reconciliation. The reconciled balance means transactions that the bank has recognized (i.e., they have received some of the checks you’ve written), and you know which ones they have recognized. And your “bank balance” total matches the total that the bank reports for your account. But the projected balance is the amount that you know the bank will eventually report when they receive all the checks you have written or will write, or when an automatic withdrawal has occurred that you know will take place in the future.
